Connecting Bus Service

Complete Guide to Light Rail: Connecting Bus Service | The Stations | Fare | Possible Future Extensions | Frequently Asked Questions | Safety Guide

Hampton Roads Transit Route Three going to Ocean View StationWith all the negative commenting you see in The Virginian-Pilot web comments, you’d think that Light Rail existed on its own.  That is not the case at all!  Starting Sunday, August 7th, HRT will begin bus service to the train stations, to give everyone a chance to get ready for opening day Friday, August 19th.  I break down the bus service by station in the list below:

Newtown Road Station

Military Hwy Station

Ingleside Road Station

  • This station serves the local neighborhood – no feeder bus service

Ballentine Blvd Station

Brambleton Ave/NSU Station

Harbor Park Station

  • This station serves Harbor Park Baseball Stadium as well as the Park & Ride lot at Harbor Park – no feeder bus service

Civic Plaza Station

MacArthur Square Station

  • Route 17 Granby Street (one block walk)
  • Route 90 Elizabeth River Ferry (two block walk)
  • Note: several other buses pass by along City Hall Avenue, but do not serve MacArthur Square Station

Monticello Station

York Street Station

  • Route 44 Turnpike Rd (I do NOT know if a bus stop sign will be placed on Brambleton Ave here or not – Assume Route 44 WILL NOT STOP HERE for now)

Ft Norfolk / Eastern Virginia Medical Center Station
